How to wash silk correctly?
Silk is a natural fibre characterised by its particular shine and its delicate, lightweight quality. Retaining the distinctive smooth texture and unique visual appeal of this fibre requires special care. Silk is sensitive to chemicals and should therefore only be washed with detergent designed for woollens or with special detergent. Use a very gentle washing program with a very low spin speed, such as the Wool program. Please note that the colour of silk tends to run, so it should only be washed with items of a similar colour. The best way to dry silks is to lie them flat and shape them so that they remain in good condition for a long time to come.
How to wash wool correctly?
“Wool” includes cashmere, angora, merino, lambswool, mohair and sheep's wool. It is used primarily for warm jumpers and winter clothing as it is very good at retaining heat. Wool is also good at equalising temperature, since it dissipates excess body heat into the cooler environment; for this reason, it is also used in sportswear.
Woollen clothing requires extra special care. Always use special detergent for woollens in conjunction with the Wool program to ensure that it does not pill or shrink when it is washed. The Wool program is incredibly gentle, rinses the laundry thoroughly and only spins it a limited number of times – in fact, it is even gentler than washing your laundry by hand. This means that you can wash your delicate wool or cashmere laundry in your washing machine as an alternative to hand washing.
