Deep cleaning your EQ.3/EQ.300 coffee machine

Every so often – with the exact frequency depending on water hardness and usage – the Calc’n Clean button will light up. The display shows "Calc’n Clean required". The appliance should be immediately cleaned and descaled using the service programme: "Calc’n Clean".

Prior to starting a service programme:

Remove, clean and re-insert the brewing unit.
Clean the milk frother.

How to use Calc’n Clean.

This service programme supports you to clean and descale your EQ.3/EQ.300 coffee machine.

Step-by-step guide – duration about 40 minutes.

If one of the service programmes is interrupted, e.g. by a power failure, proceed as described in the section Calc’n Clean “Descaling tablet in Water tank”.
Important: If the appliance is not cleaned and descaled in good time, it may be damaged.
Important: If the appliance is not descaled and cleaned in good time, it will be locked. The display shows "Device locked". If the appliance is locked, it can only be operated again once the service programme has been carried out.
Caution! For each of the service programmes, use Calc’n Clean descaling and cleaning agents as described in the instructions and observe the (relevant) safety information.
Do not drink the liquids.
Never use vinegar, vinegar-based products, citric acid or citric acid-based products for descaling.

At the end of a service programme, wipe down the appliance using a soft, damp cloth to immediately remove any descaler residue. This residue may cause corrosion.

1/5 Cleaning tablet in brew unit.

Press and hold the Calc’n Clean button for approx. 5 seconds. (Symbol calc’n Clean lights up)
Open the door.
Remove the drip tray and coffee grounds container and empty.
Remove and clean the brewing unit.
Place a Siemens cleaning tablet in the brewing unit.
Re-insert the brewing unit.
Re-insert the drip tray and coffee grounds container.
Close the door, symbol lights up.

2/5 Descaling tablet in water tank.

Remove the water tank
If there is a water filter in the tank, please remove this water filter.
Place a Siemens descaling tablet in the water tank.
Pour 0.5 litres of lukewarm water into the empty water tank up to the mark. And dissolve a Siemens descaling tablet in it.
Wait until the descaling tablet has been resolved completely. Then re-insert the water tank.
Re-insert the water tank and place a large container (approx. 1 litre) under the outlet system.

3/5 Calc’n Clean starts.

Calc’n Clean flashes, touch Calc’n Clean.

The programme starts, cleans and descales the appliance. Calc’n Clean pulses.

Duration approx. 20 minutes

Once the LED Calc’n Clean lights up.
Empty the container under the outlet.

4/5 Clean drip tray and water tank.

Open the door.
Empty the drip tray and re-insert it.
Close the door and remove the water tank.
Rinse the water tank out once more. Clean it with fresh water.
And then re-insert the water filter into the water tank.
Fill with fresh, still water up to the “max“ mark.
Place the water tank back to the machine.

5/5 Calc´n Clean rinse and clean the appliance.

When you re-insert the water tank place a container under the outlet system again. Calc’n Clean will flash again. Press the button.

The programme starts and then cleans and rinses the appliance.

Calc’n Clean pulses.

Duration approx. 20 minutes.

When the symbol lights up the programme has finished.

Empty the container. Open the door and empty, clean and re-insert the drip tray and coffee ground container one last time.
Close the door. The programme has finished. The appliance is ready for use again.
