Award-winning brand design

Siemens Home Appliances wins German Brand Award 2018

Perfection often means something that has no flaws. We aren’t exactly saying that Siemens HomeAppliances are flawless, but we’re pretty close. This can be seen by the latest in a string ofprestigious awards we’ve won, namely:

  • “Special Mention” in the “Excellence in Branding” competition class at the GermanBrand Awards of 2018.
  • Gold award within the “Industry Excellence in Branding” class at the German BrandAwards of 2018.

During this years German Brand Awards, Siemens showcased an impressive new brand design whichnot just wowed judges but also resulted in receiving and honour for successful brand management. This is largely due to the fact that the holistic revision of the brand image, completed in 2017 thataddressed the ever-demanding target group across the globe. This came at a time when digitizationof brands shaped their futures based on target group relevance, sustainability and the degree ofinnovation as criteria for the decision makers. With this, an independent jury voted for Siemensunique design approach.

However, that’s not all. The Siemens Home Appliances brand came to awards with winning in mind, and that’s what happened. Siemens walked off the stage with 2 prestigious awards, the first beingGold in the “Industry Excellence in Branding” class and is rightfully honoured within the “Kitchen &Household Appliances” group. The second award of the night came courtesy of Siemens excellentdesign, taking the “Special Mention” in the cross-industry top class “Excellence in Branding” whichshows our relevance outside the industry with the Product Brand of the Year for unique design.

What makes these wins so much sweeter is the challenges faced by the Siemens design team. AsChristopher Killian, Chief Brand Officer at Siemens Home Appliances says,” In the course ofdigitalisation and a steadily increasing density of information, people's media usage behaviour haschanged. Today, content is mostly consumed online and 'on the go'. Hence, getting consumers'attention becomes increasingly challenging. That's why it's important to stand out as a brand – andthat's exactly what the new brand design helps us to do. Our brand design is geared to the demandsof our consumers and strengthens our value of premium brand recognition by placing particularemphasis on visual content and clear colour and design language. We are very pleased about theaward; it’s a validation of our new brand strategy."

New Brand Design for a New Brand Strategy

In the quest to create a seamless brand experience, Siemens Home Appliances succeeded in takingthe core, “Exciting Possibilities” and making it visible to the outside world. This presents Siemens in aholistic way while embracing traits of modernism and digitalisation by:

  • Interplaying the brand colours, Dynamic Petrol and Stone Dark in a combination witha strong, target-group oriented design language that not just attracts consumersphysically, but online as well.

This creates a consistent global approach that enables a seamless brand experience at every part ofthe consumer journey via innovative touchpoints.

The initial repositioning began in 2015, by sharpening the brand core. Following on from themomentum, Siemens then started to implement the new design language gradually since 2017 in allcountries where Siemens Home Appliances has a presence. The new look and feel is currently live ona number of our websites and the full implementation is expected to be completed by the end of2018.

In 2018 alone, Siemens Home Appliances have already received three international awards for itsunique combination of pioneering innovation and first-class design. At the Red Dot Design Awards2018, the brand received 14 awards for its product design; at this year's iF Design Awards, SiemensHome Appliances received another nine.
