Four common myths surrounding dishwashers
Although dishwashers aren’t exactly newfangled inventions, there are still common misconceptions that surround them. Search no more – we’ve got the inside story for you. Save time, precious resources and get the best results in every wash.
1.You can skip pre-rinsing
True! Pre-rinsing is unnecessary and a waste of time, water and energy. Just scrape off the leftovers from your dishes, crockery and utensils and load the machine. The dishwasher will do the rest for you.
2. Your cutlery will rust in the dishwasher
False! You don’t need to worry about your beautiful stainless-steel cutlery getting rusty in the dishwasher, any more than when you wash them by hand. But avoid over-packing the cutlery basket or leaving it washed and wet overnight. This can lead to staining.
3. The quality of the detergent isn’t important
False! Wash after wash, low-quality products can discolour your cutlery. This is due to brine residue that can sometimes be found in cheaper, lower-quality detergents.
4. Hand-wash is eco-friendlier
False! A dishwasher uses generally less water than washing dishes by hand. A full dishwasher uses 50% less water and 28%* less energy, when compared to washing the same number of dishes by hand. Also, it gives you cupboard-ready dishes and utensils in a fraction of the time.
*Use of eco-programme with water temperature at 50°C, compared to washing one machine load by hand; values may differ between models and brands.
