Installation options

Understanding your options is essential for kitchen comfort and ventilation performance. You can choose between ducted ventilation, which removes steam and odours by venting air directly outside, and recirculated ventilation, ideal for spaces where ducting isn't practical. Each method has unique characteristics that can affect air flow and noise levels. Additionally, selecting the appropriate filter type and ensuring the correct hood height can help support effective ventilation in your kitchen.

Recirculating or ducted?

What is ducted ventilation?

For the best extraction performance, a ducted extractor hood should be installed to vent air directly outside. This method effectively removes steam and odors, ensuring a more serene kitchen environment. However, effective planning of the ducting system is required for optimal results. Ducted ventilation is quieter, making it an excellent choice for those concerned about noise levels.

What are the different types of filter?

When choosing a Siemens extractor hood, it's important to consider the type of filter, as it can impact air quality and noise levels. Siemens offers four options: the Standard Odour Filter, CleanAir Filter, CleanAir Plus Filter, and Long Life Regenerative Filter. Each provides effective odor control and a lifespan of 6 to 12 months. Filters like the CleanAir and CleanAir Plus also reduce noise by up to 3 dB (A), creating a quieter cooking environment. Selecting the right filter ensures not only fresher air but also a more peaceful kitchen experience.

Standard Odour FilterThe Standard Odour Filter has a lifetime of 6 to 12 months, making it a practical option for regular replacement. Its design allows for simple installation, ensuring users can easily manage maintenance without requiring professional assistance. This filter is enhanced with an anti-fish treatment, which helps neutralize unwanted odors.
CleanAir Filter
CleanAir FilterSimilarly, the CleanAir Filter has a replacement interval of 6 to 12 months. It features an increased surface area, which contributes to improved extraction and performance. Additionally, it boasts a sound reduction capability of up to 3 dB (A), which can create a quieter kitchen environment. Like the Standard Odour Filter, it also includes an anti-fish treatment to assist with odor control.
CleanAir Plus Filter
CleanAir Plus FilterThe CleanAir Plus Filter has a service life of up to 12 months. Its anti-pollen functionality retains 99% of airborne pollen and helps deactivate allergens trapped in the filter. The filter also features an increased surface area and can reduce sound levels by up to 3 dB(A).
Long Life Regenerative Filter
Long Life Regenerative FilterThe Long Life Regenerative Filter has a service life of up to 10 years. It provides odour reduction and can reduce sound levels by up to 3 dB(A). The filter can be regenerated in the oven every four months at 200°C for two hours, allowing it to be reused and helping maintain performance over time.

How high should the cooker hood be installed?

The amount of clearance required depends on which type of hob you choose. For standard electric, ceramic and induction hobs, your cooker hood should be between 55 – 70cm high while gas hobs need a clearance of at least 65cm – and more for larger appliances.

Electric or induction hobs

If you have an electric hob, you will need clearance of between 45 and 65cm between the cooktop and hood. This depends on the type of hood you choose.
