What to do if the washing machine trips the fuse/RCD?
Observe the information on safety and preventing material damage.
If your Siemens washing machine has tripped the RCD (residual current device), this might be caused by different things such as the motor, heating element, a short circuit in the wiring or water on an electrical part. For this reason, it can be difficult to identify the cause without taking a look inside the appliance.
The residual current device is an important safety device. It interrupts the power supply in critical situations and can, therefore, prevent things like dangerous electric shocks. Nevertheless, it is understandably very annoying if it trips and interrupts the wash cycle.
Attention: always take problems with the electronics seriously. We strongly advise against working on the appliance electronics yourself!
Socket is faulty or fuse has tripped.
-
Check the function of the socket, e.g. plug in a lamp.
-
If the socket is not working, check whether the residual-current circuit-breaker (RCCB) or the mains fuse for the electric circuit has been tripped.
The mains fuse and residual-current circuit-breaker (RCCB) are provided for your safety and will respond to an overload or short-circuit in the electric circuit.
-
Check whether other appliances have caused an overload in the electric circuit.
-
If necessary, contact an electrician.
